About me

Hi there! I’m John Meissbach, a Licensed Associate Counselor with over 10 years of professional experience in the treatment field. I work primarily with teens, young adults, and families, creating a space that feels safe, respectful, and grounded while also being honest and growth oriented.

My approach is trauma informed and integrates Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I focus first on building genuine rapport, because real change happens when people feel understood and seen. I also believe teens and young adults need a strong therapeutic relationship for change to occur. From there, I invite accountability in a compassionate way, helping clients own their choices, develop skills, and move toward healthier patterns without shame or criticism. Empathy is central to everything I do, along with clear guidance and steady support.

With more than 10 years of personal sobriety, I bring lived experience that helps me understand what it feels like to be stuck, scared, resistant, or overwhelmed. This perspective gives me a unique ability to see the world the way struggling teens and young adults often do. I recognize the defenses, the fear, the pressure, and the desire to feel in control, and I help people work through those layers with patience and honesty.

My goal is simple. Help people feel safe enough to be honest. Help them feel supported enough to try something new. And help them feel empowered enough to take responsibility for building the life they want.
